Hi there. It’s been a while.
I’m three months postpartum and only starting to feel normal again. How are you?
We welcomed baby Kazimira to the world on January 14th. She’s really cute, super sweet, and a pretty decent sleeper. One thing that’s challenging though is that she has a food allergy that I’m currently trying to figure out by doing an elimination diet. Since she’s an exclusively breastfed baby, it’s something that I’m eating. Currently I’m off dairy and soy, and next is egg if her poops don’t start looking any better. It’s sad for me to know that my diet is hurting her tummy. I kind of want to just go fully allergen-free and only eat meat, vegetables, and fruit. I read that someone on Reddit’s MSPI forum ended up doing that after getting frustrated that nothing else was working.
Zosia has been a really good big sister. She isn’t used to the idea of having to share her mommy just yet, but she’s getting there. She’ll be three in August, and I think she’s an amazing artist. We were playing with her little LCD doodle board yesterday and I drew a circle then asked her to draw a face on it. She drew two eyes, a nose, a mouth, then added a neck to it. I was very impressed. Her watercolor paintings are really beautiful, as well. When my sister was visiting once, Zosia pulled out one of the books that she regularly draws in and presented it asking, “Do you want to look at my artwork.” What a gem.
Those are the two biggest things happening in my life right now: feeding my youngest and encouraging my toddler’s budding creativity.
I actually don’t feel like writing a whole post right now, but I do have some ideas for future posts. Mostly I wanted to pop on here and say “hey” and “what’s up” and let anyone who is interested in joining the next installment of the Talk About It Literary Fiction Book Club that we will be reading The Maniac by Benjamín Labatut during the month of May.

2025 is already off to a good start. One of my favorite things is having an idea, saying it out loud and then publishing it in a public forum, then bringing it to life. I guess this is literally what manifesting is.
All are welcome! If you want to read along and post your thoughts as you read, ask questions, and chit chat about the book and subjects related to the text (or whatever, really) the ongoing group chat will take place here. Please feel free to chime in as much as you’d like, as well as lurk as much as you’d like.
I’ve already started listening to the audiobook, but I kind of feel like this is a book I need to hold in my hands to read. I’m going to try to get a paper copy to complement what I’m listening to while at the gym.
Tell me what’s going on! Are you writing? I’m dreaming up a new project right now. I’m also thinking of doing “office hours” at some point at a coffee shop for a couple hours. What do you think?
